About the Librarian

 

Jackie Pineda has been an educator for over 34 years. She became Zapata North Elementary School Librarian in February, 2014. 

Mrs. Pineda graduated from Zapata High School in 1984 in the top 10 of her graduating class. She attended Texas A & I University in Kingsville, Texas where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education with a specialization in Bilingual Education/ESL in December, 1988. Mrs. Pineda taught in Los Angeles, California for 10 years at Union Avenue Elementary School. In 1996, Mrs. Pineda earned a Master’s degree in Educational Administration from National University in San Diego, California.   Upon returning to Zapata, Mrs. Pineda attended Sam Houston State University where she acquired a certification in Library Science. Mrs. Pineda has taught all grade levels, Kinder- 5th grade in the 34 years of experience. Teaching 5th grade Science was one of her favorite classroom experiences as well as teaching 1st grade students.  Mrs. Pineda believes in the power of reading every day. “Reading takes us places, inspires us, opens up our minds, and develops our ability to learn something new every day.” As our school librarian, Mrs. Pineda intends to develop lifelong readers and inspire all students to love reading.
