Family & Community Engagement Statement:
At North Elementary, we believe that strong family and community partnerships are key to
student success. Parents are encouraged to be active participants in their child’s education
through a variety of involvement opportunities—from volunteering on campus and attending
school events to engaging in academic nights and leadership committees.
Our Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) plays a vital role in creating a vibrant and supportive
school environment. With outstanding parent involvement, the PTO has led numerous successful
initiatives, including campus improvement projects, student enrichment programs, and family
engagement events. Their continued collaboration with staff and the community makes a
meaningful impact on our school culture and student experience.

As the proud principal of this exceptional campus, I want you to know that I care deeply about every individual who walks through our doors. The safety, health, and well-being of our students
and staff are not just priorities—they are personal to me. I am committed to fostering not only academic and professional growth, but also emotional and physical wellness. I believe in
growing people, supporting their journey, and making sure they feel valued, seen, and cared for every day.
Above all, our students are at the heart of everything we do. Their safety, academic success, and overall well-being—emotionally, socially, and physically—are of the utmost importance to us.
We strive daily to create a safe and empowering environment where every child is challenged, supported, and celebrated.
I was born in Monterrey, Mexico, and migrated to the United States when I was 12 years old. My parents came here in search of a better life and instilled in me the values of hard work, resilience,
and the importance of education. Like many of our students today, I encountered numerous obstacles throughout my educational journey—language barriers, cultural shifts, and personal
hardships—but I never gave up. Within a few months of arriving, I learned English and eventually graduated with highest honors from Zapata High School in 1996. I earned my
Bachelor’s degree in International Economics and a Master’s in Educational Administration, and I remain a lifelong learner, committed to growing and helping others grow.
I am also the proud mother of a University of Texas graduate daughter, blessed with a loving husband and supported by a wonderful family who inspire me every day. Family means
everything to me—both my own and the one I’ve found here at North Elementary. I set high expectations for myself and for those around me because I believe we all deserve the opportunity
to reach the best version of ourselves. I see my staff as my extended family, and I work to ensure they are supported not just professionally, but also personally and emotionally.
Together—with our families, our community, and our incredible team—we will continue to build a school where students are empowered, teachers are celebrated, and excellence is a shared
mission.
