Zapata North Elementary has been working hard at growing a productive garden. Between the months of December and January, 2nd grade students at north elementary have harvested 15 lbs of Kale, 15 lbs of Butter Lettuce, and 8 lbs of Carrots. The campus grown produce was donated to the ZCISD Child Nutrition Department, where it was used to prepare and serve garden and taco salads. The campus grown gardens are part of the Learn, Grow, Eat, & Go! Program. We would like to thank Texas A&M AgriLife Extension for all their help and guidance with this program. Students at Zapata North appreciate seeing their hard work being put to good use at their campus.
Z.N.E.S. will be hosting a Valentine's Day record hop for their students Thursday, February 7, 2019. If you are interested in your child attending, please contact your child's homeroom teacher.
Friday, January 25, 2019, Z.N.E.S. celebrated the 100th day of school. The celebration consisted of students showing off their shirts, posters, and other crafts to their fellow students in the annual 100th day parade.
Extra! Extra! Read all about it (and boy did they ever)! Z.N.E.S. students have been caught with their noses in the books. The top 5 readers, for the 3rd six weeks, from 1st-5th grade students were recently entered in a raffle held by librarian, Mrs. J. Pineda. One child in each grade level was chosen at random to receive a prize.
Yesterday afternoon, 4th grade students departed ZNES to head out to Holiday in the Park celebration at Six Flags Fiesta Texas in San Antonio.
